Racist Burnley Fans

Burnley's Andre Gray has criticised two fans of his own club for allegedly making racist comments to a Bradford player during Saturday's friendly.

Officials asked a Burnley fan to leave Bradford's stadium after repeated comments directed at the home player.

Another supporter left voluntarily, although no arrests were made, and Burnley have apologised to the Bantams player and pledged to investigate.

Gray tweeted that the two fans involved "still live in the stone ages".

Apologising to both the Bradford player and the club, Burnley said they "strongly condemn discrimination of any type".

Bradford also issued a statement which said the supporter, who denied racist behaviour, "was warned by match stewards that if such abuse was witnessed and continued he would be ejected".

Bradford added: "The spectator made a further comment and at this point the player reported the abuse to the assistant referee.

"Additional staff were deployed to the area in which Burnley supporters were seated and following continued abuse he was ejected.

"They refused to give any personal details and because the match was operated on an unreserved ticket basis we cannot identify the individual involved.

"However, there is CCTV footage of the incident and we are working closely with Burnley FC and West Yorkshire police on the matter."

All clubs have knuckle draggers like this. Derby had a situation not long ago, wasnt it someone shouting racist abuse in front of their young child?

Should be made to have a 1 on 1 conversation with the person they were yelling abuse at, im sure they wouldnt feel quite so brave without all those other people round them.

The 1 person (not 2 as has been reported) has received an indefinite ban from all Burnley matches.  The Burnley fans around him confronted him and helped stewards to identify him.  The 2nd person was, apparently, his stepfather who left voluntarily as they'd traveled together, he identified himself on one of our forums and claims his stepson will "never darken my door again" (which led to some slight concerns he'd killed the racist ****).

It's embarrassing for the club and it's fans but it's been really jumped on with Sky reporting that "Burnley fans" racially abused Andre Gray when it was infact one "fan" (debatable) and it was directed at Bradford player (which is in no way better or more acceptable but the reports were still wrong).

Hopefully now it'll blow over and the racist **** won't be seen on a Burnley game again, just hope this doesn't impact on our club's image (don't laugh) and our ability to attract players.

Its good they have taken action, like i have said when you have thousands of people you are always going to get a small proportion of people who think its ok to do and say these things. Its good others around them take action too, there is no place for it in football. Which makes me wonder even more why FIFA have granted Russia the world cup, now they do have a very recent history of abusing their own players never mind those of other clubs.

All of the Burnley fans I have ever come across at the legendary Warwick services have been perfectly reasonable sorts and whilst all clubs will have the occasional mouth-breather in their midst, absolutely no need to believe they are any more prevalent in Burnley fans' ranks.

Now, back on topic, hands off our Jeff you lot.........

We've all got em, our jackass supporter tried to punch a Red Dog on the pitch 2 seasons ago. Not a great advertisement for our club.... (He should've waited outside and off camera)  #schoolboyerror
