Darren Bent and Tom Ince wanted by Derby boss Steve McClaren

Derby County are keen to re-sign Darren Bent and Tom Ince for next season.

Ex-England striker Bent, 31, whose contract with Aston Villa runs out this summer, and Hull City winger Ince, 23, impressed on loan despite Derby failing to earn a Championship play-off place.

Head coach Steve McClaren told BBC Radio Derby: "Tom is a Hull player, but we would love him.

"And, after scoring the goals he has, there will be quite a few clubs after Darren. But we would like him as well."

Derby led the Championship on 24 February but won just twice in their final 13 games of the season to finish two places, and one point, adrift of the top six.

McClaren has insisted he is "100% committed" to Derby, despite being linked with the Newcastle job.

Tom Ince only started nine games for Hull this season before joining Derby in January

He said Derby's recruitment will be "very important" in the summer, but it was about bringing in "quality" not quantity.

"The best thing we did last summer was to sign players on long-term contracts," he continued, referring to the close-season business in 2014 which included deals for Will Hughes, Richard Keogh, Jeff Hendrick, Craig Bryson and Craig Forsyth.

"These player are under contract so nobody leaves unless we want them to go. We need to improve the squad in certain areas and then we mount another campaign again.

"Two months ago there was a not a lot wrong with this squad and there still isn't. In certain areas we need to improve, but not many.

"There is a determination from the board that we go again."

I'm with Mac with this. Really do hope we get them both.
