Albert
I know that we as fans only really work on what we see on the pitch, but I think many underestimate how important what happens in training is for such trials.
Stuniverse
Instead of playing 'Guess Who', can anyone who went to the game tell us how well the trialists played? Gigi and Bah in central defence dominated the Belper strikers, although it's hard to judge as Belper play tier 7 or 8 in the pyramid structure. Both Gigi and Bah looked strong and physical, although Gigi would concede quite a few free-kicks if unable to adapt his style in the Championship. Bah, in particular, looked good in possession. Gomez showed some neat touches with his back to goal but generally disappointed. In a first half bossed by Calero and Bunjaku, where Derby created plenty of chances and scored three goals, Gomez didn't have a single attempt on goal. Contrast this with Thomas, his halftime replacement, who had three great chances and a good shout for a penalty. The midfielder Gardiokitis got about 15-20 minutes. He showed some neat touches, can run with the ball, and passed it well. The goalkeeper Gardiokitis got 5-10 minutes and didn't really have anything to do. Gritty
For so long we have only had brits and roi players in the squad; and in the above report, barely a brit or irish player is mentioned! If the development squad progress to first team, we are going to have a more continental team
Stuniverse
Just used google images and Sosthene Bah and Joao Gomez look like the trialists who played. The Gardiokitis twins are almost certainly Dean (gk) and Alex (CM). No idea on Gigi.
Stuniverse
Although google spells it Joao Gomes not Gomez. Definitely wasn't Raul de Tomas Gomez.
