eddie Posted July 21, 2014 Share Posted July 21, 2014 Can I just make a point though? Steve hasn't signed anybody. He doesn't control transfers. Sam, John and Chris do. McClaren has been amazing for us in the coaching role, but giving him credit for all of these transfers isn't exactly right... Maybe some players like Dawkins who he worked with before, and perhaps Bamford's loan last year. He suggests a few players, but it's mostly the scouting team along with Rush and Vicars who set out targets, agree the deals and sign the players. On McClaren's say-so. It will be a team effort, but at the end of the day, the head coach will have to be sure that the player is a good fit for the intended role.
