NFL (Season Kick Off 8th September)

The regular season starts on Thursday with Baltimore Ravens @ Denver Broncos. It will be a right treat on Sunday because my favourite team Packers are playing 49ers (who I think will be Superbowl champions).

It's been an interesting summer, especially for Patriots with the Aaron Hernandez debacle. They also decided to sign Tim Tebow as a back up QB but now they've dropped him before a ball has even been kicked! Crazy stuff..

I even got the new Madden game yesterday. Who else is excited as me? Who do you think will win it?

What's the new Madden game like? I got '13 and, for some reason, I really disliked it. Haven't really kept up to date with the improvements for this one anyway.

Back on topic, I reckon the Seahawks might go all the way this year (bit of a dark horse). The 49er's will be around there too which is bad news for my team, the Rams, as arguably the 2 strongest teams are in our division. I'd be happy just to get a winning record though, which I think we'll do :)

The new Madden's ok. It hasn't really changed much since Madden 12 to be fair! I prefer the classic style of play calls the new one is irritating. One useful thing is when making a pass play it the buttons for each of the four receivers will appear ghosted until they're looking back able to receive a pass.

I loved 12 but hated 13. The career mode revamp was horrible in my opinion (especially the player progression) and the new engine, whilst it looked realistic in the most part, produced some laughable glitches.

Every year I say to myself I'm going to follow the NFL more closely, as I do enjoy it.

This thread can help, update it regularly chaps.

In true yank style, 'let's go Broncos'

It's a great sport to follow. I've gone from having a passive interest to following it closely and watching a couple of games a week. A good way to get into it would be to plan yourself a massive Superbowl party now even though it's not until February.

Put a bet on who you think will win it. Or have a sweepstake of all the teams with your mates.

Fantasy teams help too. Because you'll normally pick players from loads of different teams, you find yourself keeping track of lots of different scorelines and celebrating when a certain team/players does something. Adds another fun dimension to the game.

Let's go Ravens! Another miracle in mile high would do me tonight...

Dolphins started off season with lots of optimism but Wallace has had a poor Pre-season and they haven't looked good. So expect them to be average to poor. Spent a lot of money for what they have currently.

Same here, kind of - I'm not too fussed about watching every team but I at least want to follow one team more closely, that being the same one as the Joe up there.

I'm always well into it when I'm watching, but I forget to keep track of it.
