David
But struggling, heres why..... I snapped the top prong off when putting the fan plug in the socket last night, don't ask me how it just snaped. Thing is the plugs one of those sealed up ones where there's no screws to take out. I cut the plug off and but obviously the crimped metal which you put under the screw isn't on the end of the wires anymore, do I need this crimps or can you get away without using them? if not what are these crimps called so I can get some? And yes I'am a complete and utter electrical doughnut.

David
I can assure you no blowing goes on in this household, the missus doesn't like it.
derbydan
just twist the wires so they are nice and tight not fraying and then clamp them down with a screw no problems are you doing it the proper man way though with a butter knife lol
Jonny Red
why bother wasting all that electric on a fan when you're better off doin this? As Boycie says, its much more fun fannying around

Brammie Steve
I was going to give some amateur electrician advice regarding crimping and connecting plug wires but the thought of Boycie sticking his multimeter leads in sundry orifices has quite put me off. Brammie Steve
What's the problem? It's an open site and if something catches our attention are we not permitted to make comments? If there is such a thing as old thread alerts is there no way of removing them from the site. There are those among us who display a healthy curiosity are just plain nosey.
