Player power got rid of Shackell

I heard today that Shackell was sold because he wasn't liked by the rest of the squad and wound them up. It was also the reason Davies left for personal reasons and that after Shackell was sold Davies didn't want to leave but the club had already decided to let him go so they could get Sammon.

Obviously I don't know how true but wondered what you lot thought about it. It does make some sort of sense.

Discuss.

I think that we sold Shackell cos Clough wanted keogh as he thinks hes a better player. And I think Clough may be right.

Why wrong?

1. Steve Davis's dad said that whatever the issue was it was on going for 18 months. Shacks was only here for 9.

2. Nigel would not cow tow to player power.

3. Shackell was a top bloke and a star.

I have posted before regarding this topic.

I was informed the reasons why shackell left were:

1) Financial.

2) The manager wanted a more intense type of defender. Especially after Barkers injury.

3) There was an element of Shackell having an influence on the group that wasn't always positive. That's not to say he wasn't popular amongst the other players. He was. But there is only one main man at the club and that's the manager.

As i understand a combination of the above factors led to him leaving. I also have been informed that the fee was more than that which was widely reported.

I have information that says Nigel Clough knows what he's doing. It may be unpopular. I'll say no more.

We are Derby. I am Derby. I drink therefore I am.
