Day
Stewart Downing could be out for upto 6 months which would rule out any move during the summer, I guess the plan was to sell Downing which would of rasied around £12m to fund summer signings yet now he could be out till November oh dear, he then has to get match fit and put in some decent performances to get a move in January. Bet they wish they sold him when they had the chance in January. vicky-27
Ouch ! hopefully the injury is not as bad as they think - couldn't be a worse time for it to happen.
Perky1106
He'll be playing some games in the Championship next season. I guess they can sell David Wheater, possibly Alfonso and Gary O'Neill too all to Premiership clubs.
AussieRam
I think Middlesborough realise this season how much Schwartzer really meant to them. That and Southgate isn't the best of managers.

Day
Boro confirm Downing op Middlesbrough have confirmed that Stewart Downing will be having surgery on his injured foot. The England winger was injured in Boro's last home game of the season against Aston Villa when Stiliyan Petrov stood on him. Now Downing is facing the prospect of at least being out until the start of next season, although there are concerns he could struggle to play again this year. It is understood Downing will have a pin inserted into his foot on Friday. "I think Stewart is going to be out for two or three months at least. That's not good news for him or the club," confirmed assistant manager Malcolm Crosby.
