September 1st of 2012, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be playing the Midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy at Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Ya'll should finally have a chance to watch one of my sporting obsessions, if not there then on TV at least I would imagine. Though I hate the arrogance of Notre Dame, it makes it better considering they haven't been actually relevant in a damn long while. This is a noted rivalry though that has been played annually since 1927 with Notre Dame holding a huge advantage of 71-12-1 in the series. But Navy has the moral high ground of being future officers in our Armed Forces and helping to keep Notre Dame afloat financially during WW2 which is why Notre Dame will keep this series on the schedule indefinitely.

Should be intresting to see if it has any success. I think Notre Dame wants to make a game in Ireland happen every so often(obviously with it being a Catholic school that almost entirely got it's start off Irish Catholic immigrants banding together). Notre Dame plays one of those demonic spread offenses that I hate, while Navy plays one of my absolute favorite offensive schemes, the triple option running game. I'm curious as to what the atmosphere will be like. This is one of the first American college football games played internationally(other than Canada) since the last "Coca-Cola Classic" in Japan, 1993(K-State took part in that series with a game vs Nebraska in 1992). What do ya'll think? Go Navy, amiright?
