Mixed emotions at the Silverlands with defeat to Whitby, the management team sign two-year deals and then the tragic news from a local game.

As always there will be a full match report to follow but Whitby cemented their place in the Premier Division next http://www.buxtonfc.co.uk/userfiles/image/Whitby2012_1

season with a narrow victory with Tom Portas netting from 20-yards on 11 minutes. The visitors had the better of the first half and deserved their lead but the Bucks created more after the break without having the fluency of recent matches but couldn’t find the net.

After the match Martin McIntosh and Scott Maxfield put pen to paper on two-years deals to keep them at the Silverlands and build on the superb start to their managerial partnership at the club. The news was relayed to a delighted packed clubhouse after the match.

Sadly the day ended with terrible news coming from a local Hope Valley match being played in the town at the same time. The local air ambulance could be heard above the Silverlands through the Whitby match and news then filtered through that young Dove Holes reserve team player Ben Obiora had collapsed and died in their match at the Blazing Rag. Condolences, of course, from all at Buxton FC to his family and friends and all at Dove Holes FC. Buxton have requested a minute’s silence before Wednesday’s DSC final with Derby County at Chesterfield in his memory.

The Bucks are next in action on Wednesday at Chesterfield’s B2Net Stadium in the DSC final against Derby County at 7-45. A reminder that this match is pay at the gate.
