Nottingham Forest handed work permit for Robbie Findley

Nottingham Forest are now in a position to wrap up the signing of Robbie Findley after a work permit was granted for the US international striker.

Boss Billy Davies and chief executive Mark Arthur represented the Reds at Friday's Football Association hearing.

Findley, 25, who has been training with Forest after agreeing the move last month, is to sign on a free transfer after leaving MLS side Real Salt Lake.

He can now open the process of securing a visa from the American authorities.

To gain a work permit, Forest had to convince the FA of his potential benefit to the club - both on and off the pitch.

A player will normally automatically qualify for a work permit if he has played in 75% of his country's international fixtures in the previous two years.

Findley, who faced England in this year's World Cup, has played in 11 of the last 12 US matches, but only broke into the side last year and had therefore not passed the 75% standard.

The pacy forward, who had been on trial with Premier League side Wolves, was a free agent.
