derbydan
Comic actor Sir Norman Wisdom has died aged 95, his son has confirmed. The London-born comedian was famous for his slapstick film roles in the 1950s and 1960s, including the character Norman Pitkin. Sir Norman had suffered a series of strokes causing a decline in both his mental and physical health over the past six months. His family said he passed away at a nursing home on the Isle of Man on Monday afternoon.

Dangerous
Saw a documentary on him last year.He seriously thought that everybody alive knew of him.He was with his son fetching his grandson from school,he asked some kid if he recognised him.The poor kid obviously didnt have a clue.Terribly sad really. He went into a care home where he regularly sang songs.Im afraid the residents seemed to get a bit fed up with it. England played an international away in god knows where a couple of years ago.Wisdom is/was massive over there (wherever it was).He was on the pitch before the game falling over etc in grimsdale fashion. It was cringeworthy.Should never have been allowed. Shame.

Hartley Hare
He was a national hero in Albania, the communist government considered his films from the 50's and 60's to be politically correct because he played the simple working man trodden under the heel of the ruling elite (Mr Grimsdale) but he always succeeded in the end. Boycie
Not being disrespectful of the dead, but for one last laugh from Mr Wisdom, why don't they play a recording of a "MR GRIMSDALE!" as he disapears behind the crem curtains? I'll get my coat. ( the report abuse button is next to this post )
