A FORMER Derby County player has been arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine.

Nathan Doyle and two other men were stopped by police in Derby on Monday.

Officers searched a silver Audi after they allegedly noticed three men acting suspiciously and found a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Police confirmed that three men, two aged 24 from Alvaston and a 23-year-old man from Hull, were all arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug.

They were questioned and have now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Doyle, a former Noel-Baker school pupil, made his first appearance for Derby County in November 2003, aged 16. He went on loan to Notts County in 2006, and then to Bradford City before transferring to Hull City in January 2007 for £100,000.

Doyle, formerly of Alvaston, then went on loan to Barnsley before signing permanently on a free transfer after being released by Hull.

He came on as a substitute for Barnsley in their 1-1 draw with the Rams on Saturday.
