James Franklin took seven for 14 as Gloucestershire skittled Derbyshire out for just 44 on the first morning of the LV= County Championship clash at Bristol.

The New Zealander was a constant threat and the visitors, who at one point were nine for six, were all out for 44 before lunch, with just Robin Peterson reaching double figures.

Franklin took five wickets for no runs in his first three overs on his way to figures of 6-3-14-7. Gloucestershire's response quickly produced the 11th wicket of the morning when William Porterfield was out for a duck, caught by Steve Adshead off Tim Groenewald. Chris Dent was then removed by Graham Wagg as the hosts reached 25 for two at lunch, just 19 runs adrift.
