Derby County's Arnaud Mendy has joined npower League One side Tranmere Rovers on a month's loan.

The 20-year-old Frenchman joined Derby in 2008 from FC Rouen and was regular in the academy and reserve teams upon his arrival.

Last season Arnaud made his first team debut as a late substitute in Derby's 3-0 Championship win over Sheffield Wednesday at Pride Park.

He had a brief loan spell with League Two Grimsby Town that provided just a single appearance before heading back to Derby, where he was a member of last season's totesport.com Central Division title-winning side.

Manager Nigel Clough told dcfc.co.uk: "This is a good opportunity for Arnaud to go out and get some first-team football under his belt.

"He has been a regular in the reserves and it will be hugely beneficial for him to get first-team experience."

Tranmere face Accrington Stanley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy this evening and Mendy could feature in the game at Prenton Park.

Rovers sit 22nd in League One after four games, drawing two and losing two.

Derby County's Arnuad Mendy has extended his loan spell with League One Tranmere Rovers by two further months.

Mendy has made six appearances for Rovers since his temporary move to the Wirral at the end of August, and scored on his full debut in their 1-0 win over Peterborough United.

He has now penned a two-month extension to the loan which runs up to and including 30th November 2010.

Tranmere are placed 18th in League One following their 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday evening.

The Frenchman joined Derby in 2008 from FC Rouen and made his first team debut as a late substitute in the Rams' 3-0 Championship win over Sheffield Wednesday last season.

Should be good for the lad. Hopefully he still has a future in a Rams shirt as well.

I like the policy of sending out as many of our youngsters on loan as we can so that they get real first team experience. Even if it is at Blue Square League level.

The likes of Atkins, Mills, Mendy and Kelly (on loan in the Irish league)

should all come back better players.
