I thought he was at Forest, what happened there then?

-----------------------------------------------------

Former West Ham central defender Calum Davenport is training with Leeds United.

United manager Simon Grayson confirmed that the 27-year-old has joined his squad at Thorp Arch for training this week.

"He's training with us," confirmed the manager. "Glynn knows him well from West Ham. He is available, and we have given him the opportunity to train with us.

"He looked fit and strong, he's got a bit of work to do, but we'll see how he goes. He is a good player.

"He's spent time doing his re-hab, and we'll give him the opportunity to get fit and really impress. There's no timescale, it might be a week, it might a month. We'll see how he is when he gets fit and ready to play and we'll take things from there."

The former England under-21 international is available after parting company with the Hammers in March. He had been stabbed in the leg in an attack in August 2009 - he lost 50 per cent of his blood - and he is now seeking a route back into the game after the subsequent court case saw him cleared of any wrongdoing in July this year.

Davenport, who started his career at Coventry City and commanded a fee of £1.3m when he joined Tottenham in 2004, has made 165 appearances and is looking to re-build his career following his departure from Upton Park.

The defender had been training with Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.

probably didn't pass Billy's fitness tests just like George Boyd

Then again...its just as likely there might've been the issue of whether he would've fitted in with the dressing room or not considering his colourful past coupla years hmmm.
