CRYSTAL Palace are reported to be on the verge of completing the sensational signing of Edgar Davids.

The former Inter Milan and Ajax star hasn't played since 2008 after ending his second spell with the Dutch giants.

However, the Advertiser's sister paper the Daily Mail are claiming that he has already held talks with Eagles manager George Burley and is keen on a return to London.

Davids spent two years with Tottenham Hotspur and is said to be on the verge of committing himself to Palace. A decision is expected in the next few days.

The club have today agreed terms with Edgar Davids to join on a pay as you play basis.

The 37-year old trained with his new team-mates on Friday morning and will be at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon for the match against Ipswich Town.

Speaking to the official website moments after terms were agreed Davids explained his delight at agreeing a deal with the club.

"It is an exciting time for the football club, and it is an exciting time for me. I just want to enjoy football and show the best I can do."

Manager George Burley explained to the official site how the move came about: "We spoke to Edgar and had a meeting with him earlier in the week. The boy felt enthusiasm and he has been training with Ajax but now its good to see us agree terms with him."
