Imagine this was 13 games into a new season. You'd look at matches against the likes of Preston, Reading, Cardiff and think... Yeah those are ones we should win. 

Brum and West Brom. Tough, but you'd sill be confident right. Leed and Forest are anything can happen games. 

I'd argue that this post Rooney table is more useful in predicting the next 8 games than the current league table. 

 

Basically most of our rivals have been very average by comparison with us then.

24 out if 13 games suggests 15 from remaining 8 with our rivals getting less. IF only. We need four more points that Preston and Cardiff who we have yet to play. We need three more points than Swansea and Blackburn from more difficult looking fixtures than them.
