We want to see World Cup games shown on the Big Screen in Derby's Market Place. The showing of Sports, Arts and Cultural events are why it was bought to Derby in the first place!

I'm sure you'll agree that not all football fans are window smashing, fist fighting yobs who can't handle their booze.

Showing England games on the Big Screen in the Market Place will create a real buzz and a party atmosphere for children, young people and adults.

So, if you want the same thing then please forward this petition on.

It's funny how six months ago the council were virtually spuffing their pants about Derby being a "footballing city" and all in order to bring the world cup here.

Now they won't show the greatest show on earth in this amazing "footballing city". I know the country has a deficit up to its neck but this only comes every four years. Doesn't it warrant something to cheer us up? Bear in mind an area of Derbyshire was actually the worst area of Britain affected by the recession ...

If a city of under 300,000 people in the UK is afraid of doing an event like this because of the lack of ability for police and council to organise it, how on earth are the likes of Liverpool, Nottingham, Birmingham, London and Manchester going to host these 'fan parks' that are crucial to the world cup bid?

This will come under great scrutiny soon I'm sure when most people realise England can't organise anything.
