derbydan Posted June 2, 2010 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Cumbrian Police confirmed "a number of fatalities" after a driver with a shotgun went on the rampage in Whitehaven. He is believed to be still at large and has apparently been shooting at random as he headed south on a 15-mile stretch of the Cumbrian coast, before heading towards the central Lakes area. Police have named the suspect as Derrick Bird, 56, of Rowrah near Frizington and issued a picture of him. They believe he has abandoned his car, a Citroen Picasso, in the area of Boot, and is proceeding on foot. Police fear that he is heading towards popular tourist destinations, where hundreds of families are holidaying during half term. Residents have been asked to stay indoors as police firearms teams and a helicopter attempt to track him down. End of the day the guy was a nutcase no matter what made him do it. You have to feel sorry for the families of the innocent 12 who lost their lives because of one twisted tw@t.
