Mainz and Freiburg tonight saw the awarding of a penalty through the use of VAR AFTER the half-time  whistle had been blown. Freiburg were in the changing room! 

VAR can’t be used until the ball is dead so I’m not sure what else the ref could have done.

I don't think it's correct re dead ball, I'm sure he just stops play by signalling TV with his hands?

Another example var is not ready yet, could turn the world cup into a farce.

To be fair, it’s being held in Russia, it couldn’t get more farcical, 

oh wait, the WC after.
