TigerTedd
South’s merican custom is for everyone to have two surnames. Your paternal paternal surname, followed by your maternal paternal surname. So kids always have different surnames to their parents, but they have one surname from each. Probablg why so many South Americans just have nicknames on their shirts, cos it would be a right shirtful otherwise. Then when ladies get married, they add a ‘de (husbands paternal surname)’ so they end up with 3 surnames (4 if you include the day, it means of, and basically means my wife belongs to me, can’t argue with that). So my wife’s name on her passport is ridiculously long. But for ease, everyone in the family just has my surname. We briefly spoke about double barrelled, but I quickly stamped that one out. I think it’s daft and will eventually lead to triple barreled etc. Unless we start doing it the South American way, and everyone gets a double barrelled surname made up of a combination of mum and dad’s surnames.
