TOP Gear's Richard Hammond had a second brush with death - nearly driving off a mountain to escape a spider.

He was on a track known as the Road of Death over a 12,000ft drop in Bolivia when the spider landed on him.

Hamster, 39 - who survived a 280mph crash in 2006 - swerved as he tried to shake it off and make an emergency stop.

He said: "I thought I was going to die."

Fellow presenters Jeremy Clarkson and James May were also terrified on the drive, he added.

It will feature in the BBC2 show's Christmas special on December 27.

 i would of been the same - infact i would of tried to get out of the car.

I can put up with them but not the massive ones that are basically bats, especially when they fly in your face or land on your lamp while you're reading.

why im scared of them, they just freak me out

snakes, spiders, heights, anything i can handle just let a moth fly in my face and i panic like a 3 year old girl
