SKIPPER Robbie Savage did not fly to Holland with the rest of the Derby County squad yesterday.

With passport in hand, he reported to East Midlands Airport at 5am along with the other players for the early-morning flight to Amsterdam.

But it was not his passport – it was his wife's!

One of Savage's team-mates was heard to say they should have allowed him to board the plane because the picture was of somebody with long blond hair.

Savage had to wait for his passport to arrive and the midfielder caught the next flight out of East Midlands to Amsterdam later in the afternoon.

He then went straight from Schiphol Airport to the Den Haag Stadion in The Hague where the Rams played Dutch Premier Division side Den Haag in last night's friendly.

Savage arrived minutes before the kick-off.

He was named among the substitutes and came on for the second half.

The scariest thing about the whole episode was when the woman at check-in looked at the picture of Sarah with her long hair, looked back at me and said, "You know, if you had a shave and wore some make-up I think you might get away with it"!

Thanks to Paul, Winstanley, our ProZone man, for staying back with me for the later flight. For his troubles, I promised him 200 Euros to spend on whatever he likes in Amsterdam - so if he comes back with a big smile on his face I think we'll know how he spent it.

:D

It's not that cheap there though so 200 wouldn't do as much as you'd expect.
