Derby County manager Nigel Clough says he is prepared to be patient in his bid to re-sign Everton striker James Vaughan on loan in January.

The 21-year-old played twice for the Rams earlier this season but has since broken into the Everton first team.

Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "We've spoken to Everton about him and they'll know a bit more in a couple of weeks if they've got their targets sorted.

"He's one we're going to pursue and we will wait for as long as we can."

Vaughan scored in Everton's FA Cup victory over Carlisle on Saturday and Clough admits that could hamper his bid to bring him back to Pride Park.

He said: "He's got two in two now so I hope he doesn't do too well otherwise they might not let him come back no matter what."

Landon Donovan is a yankie knob jocky who will not cope with the Prem. He's been sent over to scout on the england players style prior to the world cup.

I say we need to despatch Sheepyderf to kidnap him and not let him go untill next summer.

So to sum up, we arn't getting Vaughan any time soon.

Surpirse surpirse

Derby boss Nigel Clough is not now expecting Everton striker James Vaughan to join up with the Rams before the end of the season.

Clough had hoped that Vaughan would return to Pride Park, where his initial loan was cut short last November, after recovering from his knee injury but that is now looking unlikely. Vaughan has featured in David Moyes' last six first teams and is becoming a regular in the squad making a move to Derby unlikely although Clough hasn't ruled it out completely in the future.

"It is looking less and less likely the closer we get to the end of transfer window," Clough told the Derby Telegraph.

"There doesn't seem to be any movement at Everton in terms of them bringing players in, so it could well be we miss out on him.

"We talked to Everton on Friday and every week we give them a call to see if anything has changed, which it hasn't at the moment.

"We are planning without James, as much as we would like him to come back.

"That is all we can do, which is why we are looking to keep DJ Campbell on loan.

Everton boss David Moyes is ready to sell striker James Vaughan - as he makes way for Leeds United contract rebel Jermain Beckford.

Moyes will let Vaughan go in the current window, or in the summer ,if the right offer comes in, blocking a loan move to Derby to see if he can attract interest.

Vaughan made a scoring return to Goodison recently, notching against Burnley and Carlisle, but Moyes is prepared to cash in on him as he revamps his forward line.

There could be late moves for Vaughan, who is a useful talent despite all of his injury problems, although the striker will have a say on where he goes too.

Meanwhile, Moyes has lined up an end-of-season free transfer swoop for the prolific Beckford, a striker he has watched for a couple of years without committing to a cash bid.

Beckford's availability for nothing makes him far more appealing to Moyes, who could have a major shake-up in his attack next season with the future of so many players in doubt.

Jo will be returning to Manchester City, Louis Saha is looking for a new contract and Yakubu's form and fitness leave a question mark over his long-term place in Moyes' plans.

Could be another twist in the tale!

I tried to kidnap him but ended up with a blonde haired aussie twonk instead.

At the minute he's locked in the cellar and keeps singing about frozen food in a multi coloured dressing gown
