Rev Posted May 21, 2015 Share Posted May 21, 2015 Read earlier that you could only give 50 likes per day.Don't agree with an arbitrary limit on likes, rarely give many out but today has seen an exceptional amount of posts I like, but I've been barred from giving @AmericanRam a well deserved like in the describe your fart thread, why 50? Day Posted May 22, 2015 Share Posted May 22, 2015 We went through a phase where the like button was being overused, literally every post was being liked by some, a cap was introduced around 2 years ago. There is actually caps on a lot of sites that use "like" buttons, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram etc. although they have higher limits due to their server resources.All data is stored in tables in a database, larger the tables, more resources you need to cope with the database, more resources, the more the server costs.It's why we also have limits on image file sizes, search only goes back 12 months and a time limit between searches and at some point in future members will be pruned that haven't posted.
