Vokes tipped to make Derby loan

Wolves striker Sam Vokes is set to have his future finally resolved this week - with a season-long loan move to Derby a strong possibility.

The 19-year-old was expected to move to Pride Park but had his hopes of a move dashed before the transfer window shut after Rams striker Rob Hulse failed to agree personal terms on a move to Middlesbrough.

But the opening of the loan window on Wednesday could see the move back on if Hulse can agree a loan that commits to a permanent transfer.

Derby were Vokes' first choice and provided Hulse can agree his side of things, then Wolves will allow their player to move, as he would then be assured of first-team football under Nigel Clough.

Newcastle and Middlesbrough have also been mentioned as possible suitors and with neither thought to have made contact with Wolves, a move to Pride Park still seems the most likely option for the striker.

Derby County have lined-up a loan move for Wolves striker Sam Vokes after losing on-loan Everton forward James Vaughan.

Vaughan has been ruled out for up to eight weeks following cartilage surgery. Welsh international Vokes has been told he can leave on-loan to gain more first-team experience.

Vokes, 19, has already seen a loan move to Coventry City fall through while Doncaster Rovers are also interested.
