So we dont get promoted, then what??

Recommended Posts

Lets be frank our recent form let alone results is v poor. Unless we get George and CM fit for the run in and the defence do what they are paid to do we'll make play offs at best. So lets look forward and take worst case scenario that we dont go up, then what???

I expect Macca to leave

Hughesy probably for £10M

Not sign Bent or Ince

That would be the extent of the change.

So we get a new manager, money in the bank and an opportunity to build a solid back four in august rather than hope for the best in march.

So the big question is would it really be the end of the world if we should come up short? Personally i'm more of the mindset that it may be no bad thing.

Yes, its a disaster if we don't go up.

Our investors have backs us to get us there this season. Should we not manage it it'd doubtful they would give us the same backing next season. On top of that without Mac we wouldn't be able to bring in the same class of loan signings. What other coaches/managers could get in the likes of Bent, Ince, Lingard and Ibe all within one season?

We know how instrumental Hughes is to our success - Just look at how we play with him vs without him.

Finally, every year the gap between the PL and the Championship gets bigger and bigger and this is going to increase even further with the new TV deal that has been announced. If we want to make it up and give it a good go it has to be this season, otherwise we probably fade away and wait another 10 years for an opportunity like we have this time.

Either way, Mcclaren will be managing in the Premiership next season.

Nobody would touch half the players due to the bumper contracts given out through the Summer and below par performances; Bryson, Keogh, Hendrick..

Some of the "logic" on this thread leaves a lot to be desired, so McClaren would be such a good manager by failing to get promotion even with the board bankrolling him with Premiership class loan players that he'd be snapped up by a Premiership club?
