CumbrianRam
[url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/i/ipswich_town/8211586.stm]Young Ipswich Town keeper Shane Supple has decided to call it quits. Apparently he'd fallen out of love with the game and wants to pursue another career. Fair play to him really but it's surprising as he always struck me as a good young keeper who wouldn't have much trouble making a decent living from the sport. But if his heart isn't in it then he's got to do what's best for himself. Not the first time this has happened of course, I remember when Espen Baardsen retired at 25 to go travelling. Seems bizarre when you consider that the career of a football is something many of us wish we could partake in but why live out someone else's dream? Anyone know of any more surprising early retirements?

Boycie
Matt Carbon retired early only to reappear years later after he rediscovered his love of the game, nothing to do with having spent all his money.
