Day
Just seen it on the DET, ------------------------------------------------- DERBY County goalkeeper Roy Carroll is on the verge of joining Danish club OB Odense. Carroll, who joined Derby in January 2008, does not figure in first-team plans at Pride Park and has been told he can find another club. The 31-year-old's contract with the Rams, which had two years to run, will be cancelled to allow him to move on as a free agent. Day
Derby County today confirmed that goalkeeper Roy Carroll has left the club by mutual agreement. Roy had two years to run on his contract with the Rams, but an agreement was mutually agreed by both parties over the weekend with his opportunities limited at Pride Park. Now a free agent, Roy is expected to complete a move to Danish Premier League side Odense. Northern Ireland International Roy joined Derby back in January 2008 and made 38 appearances, the last of which came against his former club Manchester United in January 2009. Day
A big step down for him, I thought a Championship club would of been in for him as he is a quality keeper for this level. As Cumbrian said good luck to the guy hope the move works out for him.

irishguy
what was the problem with carroll? He's technically better than any keeper on Derby's books, was it personal problems or what that spoiled things? He's better than Bywater by a mile. Clough it seems took an instant dislike to carroll for whaever reason.
derbydan
well the problem with you is roy that the fact that its always the defences fault never your own and i've never seen a bigger moaner bywater is better and younger and he is on cheaper wages
Day
When Clough came in he played both keepers and gave them a chance to impress, as I recall Carroll got the first chance to show what he can do but once Bywater came in that was it, he chose him for the number 1 shirt and the rest is history. As Carrolls wages were too high and he wasn't happy about being a number 2 he was moved on. Personally I think both keepers are quality keepers at this level and theres not alot to choose from. vicky-27
If he was as good as you are saying David - he wouldn't have splinters in his backside from sitting on the bench so long
Day
If a manager doesnt like you what can you do, don't forget Bywater was sat on his arse getting splinters for long periods as well, you can't play 2 keepers one has to sit on the bench.
