I know it's only conjecture, but sorta makes you wonder whether, during their discussions re: Ake, Jose didn't suggest that SM look at this kid from Real. And maybe put in a recommendation to RM - he's still well regraded there after all. Far fetched maybe, but really wouldn't surprise me. This is one thing that SR got right when he took on SM and got rid of NC - he stressed 'relationships'.
