The song's origins date back to 1971, when Michel Delancray and Mya Symille recorded it as "Agadou" in French. It had been written based on a tune that apparently came from Morocco. Club Med used it as their theme song from 1974.It was covered by several artists and groups, including Patrick Zabé in 1975 and the Saragossa Band (a German group) in 1981.

It was apparently played in a Derby nightclub called Gossips, to which the bar staff made a dance. It proved so popular that when Black Lace performed at the club in 1981, they learnt the dance and recorded their own version. This was verified on BBC Radio Derby in 2006. This was the first version in English.

You can't compare Black Lace to someone like Bob Marley. Now he made some classic tracks which are beyond brilliant and known the world over.

Show me where have I compared Black Lace to Bob Marley?

Both have made classic songs, not every song has been a classic and its down to personal taste if you enjoy it or not. Just because you don't like a song doesn't mean it's not a classic.

Nah, wrong. Every song Marley made was a classic 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I agree wholeheartedly LR.

Marley improves with each play of his tracks. True classics...especially "Small Axe."

(and just watch "Death in Paradise" tonight...that IS classic!) 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
