Henning Berg has agreed to become manager of Blackburn Rovers and will be unveiled by the club on Thursday morning.

Berg has been working as a pundit for Norwegian TV 2 Sporten since being dismissed as boss of Lillestrom in October of last year.

The former Manchester Unitedhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer and Blackburn defender was offered the post by the Ewood Park club's owners following a successful interview on Monday.

The 43-year-old's appointment will conclude Blackburn's protracted search for a successor to Steve Kean whose resignation ended a troubled and unpopular reign at the end of last month.

Rovers managing director Derek Shawhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer announced that a press conference will be held at 8.30am on Thursday when Berg will be presented to the media.

Shaw revealed that Berg - a member of the Manchester United squad that won the treble in 1999 - became the board's number one choice on the back of an impressive interview.

Shaw said: "He interviewed well and he moved straight to the top of our list."
