I don't think the pass was "abysmal". If it was that bad CBT wouldn't have got anywhere near to it.

Maybe Washington could have done a little better but he had to get it between the keeper and defender and in front of CBT at a height that CBT could strike it. In that respect, Washington did pretty much as well as he could.

Abysmal was probably a tad unfair, but if we’re going to criticise CBT, Washington has to be questioned as well, for an international player to put a ball in like that which should be a straight forward pass should be addressed.

I've had passes like that on a Sunday Morning/Afternoon all over Derby parks, On pitches that potatoes would feel at home at and still scored.

Sending one at knee height to a player that's in open field makes no difference, Why, Because you said in a previous post

"All said and done you’d expect CBT to score"

I expected  Derby to win, we didn’t , doesn’t always turn out how you want it.
I was simply saying if you want to give someone the best chance play a ball along the ground.
I’ve lost count of the times a fullback gets a ball neck height from a keeper or a centre passed passed a ball at his face from 3 yards out.
A Famous Derby player always use to say “if you can’t pass you can’t play” this was pretty apt last night , a simple ball was all that was needed.
Plenty of better players than CBT have missed easy chances than that over the years.

Would it have been better if the ball was on a plate and delivered by a waiter.

CBT is a pro footballer, Most likely since a child he's learned how to control a ball, Whether at pace or coming out of the sky with snow on it, The ball fell to CBT it was an open goal he fluffed it, Scuffed it call it what you like.

I find it extraordinary that posters are saying Washingtons ball was the fault, Then saying he should have scored 🙄

What I find extraordinary is you can’t see that the pass was one you’d expect on a parks pitch on a Sunday morning.
I’m no Einstein but I’m going to take a wild guess and say a ball to feet is easier to score from than one sent in knee height.
I didn’t realise being a pro footballer also entitles you to score every chance you get.
Did some forget to tell Derby this ?

There was nowt wrong with the pass...imo, It found it's target...CBT, He was unable to do what in 99% of the time he would score...imo,

I saw Roger Davis miss an even easier at Stamford Bridge decades ago, It happens, But what makes it look bad is that we drew, But even if he'd had scored it was no guarantee of a win.

Finding it’s target doesn’t mean it’s a good pass, the pass was abysmal, it needed rolling across the floor,  CBT could have sat down had his dinner and still got up and scored if the pass was what you’d expect.
The fact is the pass was dreadful along with an attemt at a finish.
All said and done you’d expect CBT to score he didn’t , and it could be costly.

He was quite poor last night, but probably didn’t look that bad in comparison to some of the absolute dross we have had recently.

I guess we can no longer expect refs to see obvious two handed shoves in the back which send players flying or free kicks and throw ins being taken remotely where they should have been, or foul throws (us and them), or booking people for cynically grabbing someone’s shirt when they’re about to break, or being remotely consistent about what constitutes a foul in the first place. To be fair, all fairly minor things but they add up.

I agree the ref had no bearing on the result, but he only might’ve looked OK because the overall standard is so poor.

I’m not into all the EFL conspiracy rubbish about referees but what was blatantly obvious last night was the inconsistency of what constitutes a foul.
luton would what looks like to most commit a foul yet play would go on, seconds later Derby would do something pretty much identical and the referee would stop the play.
I think the strangest bit of play was second half where a luton player committed a foul and was allowed to go on for a good 3 or 4 seconds with the ball and pass it on , and suddenly something seem to click in the referees mind that it was a foul, fair play for bringing it back but why let Play carry on , Derby didn’t even have the ball so we can’t even use the advantage was given as an excuse .
like I said certainly not the poorest refereee this season I’ve seen seen but still shockingly poor.

  6. Thought the referee was pretty poor to say the least but kind of use to this standard of refereeing now at Pride park.
The blatant fouls missed on Shinnie, the shove in the back of Byrne I think it was first half which 20,000 odd thousand saw , the throw in incident second half where he changed his mind as the Luton player nearly had an a seizure .
    The grabbing at corners.
All in all pretty crap, but like I say pretty used to this standard now. Think you can gauge from a crowd the performance of a ref and when he’s being heckled off at half time bearing in mind we’re leading tells it own story.Still no excuse though, poor goalkeeping cost Derby the points tonight.

  7. Might just be me but I fail to see the hype surrounding Richards.
He offers very little going forward and is actually more useful defending than attacking which he isn’t really here for,
we attacked much quicker with Stretton on and looked more dangerous.
Few seasons ago this guy wouldn’t even be warming the bench, love his enthusiasm but this shouldn’t win you a place in the team, his silly fouls often break up promising attacks or passages of play.
Hopefully Stretton will get some game time now and will progress his career.

This obviously happened during lock down. Have the twitterati slagged him off yet and said he got what he deserved for breaking the rules?

Nobody should ever be stabbed going out, what is the world becoming , but I assume covid restrictions didn’t apply to professional footballers.
