Before the mistake I thought elder was having a good game tbh. The cross was delightful for the second I just wanted to see him carry the ball a bit more but like with everything it doesn’t matter if he was good for that period the mistake will live long in the memory because of how bad it was and costly

First 60 minutes they controlled the game pretty well. It was inevitable burton would come into when 2 nil down and we started to get overrun. This is where we should have added a third midfielder on to get the game by the scruff of the neck. Tjj should have come off for Thompson about that time and made up the 3 in midfield. We need a dominant type to command in the middle. some posters on here need to realise we can’t play like Man City or Barcelona every week. A game goes on for 98 minutes. Look at the man united team under fergie it was stated all the time that a successful team wins when not at their best. That man united teams always found a way to win when not at there best and largely as the famous fergie time. I see trates In this team that will get promoted we just need to add a sprinkle of magic in 3 players to see it over the line

Just home from the game and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. first half complete control apart from a few sloppy passes. Mendez should have buried the first one he never looked confident when through. Got the goal and saw it out with relative ease. Mason Bennett is stealing a living as a professional player and still looks the same as when he broke through not hard when he looked 40 back then but had an Afro going on. second half started in dreamland. Great cross from elder and barks who I thought was excellent kept it alive and collins finished it superbly. In complete control and I agree with an earlier poster with at this point they looked one of the worst teams I’ve seen in years. Then the inevitable happened and it’s not been just this game but against fleetwood and a few other teams we seem to have this sudden blip around the 60th minute for 15 minutes where we look like an ordinary team and go off the pace and can’t pick a pass. tonight we just looked like we thought we were too good. Their first goal I have no idea why cashin has sprayed it out wide like did and put Wilson and nml under pressure for no apparent reason. Mendez looked off it tonight and is the reason why we need to add another winger so we can rest him up. Disappointed how he got outmuscled by a 4 foot midget and about 4 stone wet through. Taking nothing away from the goal it was a great finish but to lose it there was criminal with a 3 on 2. second goal after a positive 65 minutes elder did the inevatble which made some of Bradley’s mistakes look not too bad. I have no idea what he was actually doing. we then had another rocky 5 minutes but we then started to ask questions again. Not sure if it’s harsh but Collins should have buried that volley only for hourihane to show him how it’s done. Leaving the match listening to radio derby I had to question if Eric Steele and Gibson I’m horny if they were watching a different game to me. Never in a million Sunday did burton deserve a draw. They weren’t even in the game until we messed up twice but we need to learn how too see games out better. Warne and co need to have a close look at our apparent second half slump midway through. Not sure if it is fatigue or pyschological. I had to question one of his subs I was calling for Thompson to come on after the scored the first for John-jules which should have happened 20 minutes earlier. The sibley for elder sub a no brainer after the calamity. add 2 to 3 players and we are on the way. Smith cbt and another midfielder and we are on course. I thought elder was awesome before his mistake although I know posters have bashed him and I thought here we go this is the elder we thought we were getting but too make that mistake his reverted to type that can’t be trusted. He’s worried me game after game. Depending on Forsyths injury maybe looking to add a left back cover might be a useful transfer or do we put sibley there but he annoyed me when Coming on. The floating crosses that is. special mention for Kane Wilson who tonight everything good went through he is fastly becoming one of my favourite derby players in years. anyway great 3 points and I’m glad we have stayed in third and stay as the chasers. Guessing you have a great sense of humour. It’s called having a laugh and talking through topics while not much has going on. Would you rather I reference a bit more doom and gloom instead. For the contrary having a good character is important especially in terms of team building noting down Nigel cloughs team had it we are just choosing to have a laugh and joke at the fact everyone he mentions a transfer he doesn’t note down if they can actually play football have a great dribble, shot get stuck in he always harps to being a great human

I’d have been happy to spend as little or as much as possible if it gets us over the line. But if this squad goes up the way it is It would take a big summer turnover and serious money spent to with stand a relenting championship season. I’ve seen some posters note down 10 or so players in this squad they would be happy to see a championship season with. Not a chance we would get obliterated. If push comes to shove id even be happy we didn’t make it tbh and have a good summer building again under no restrictions what so ever and go for it with a squad that could do what Ipswich have done

Unfortunately the window is open and we are 4th 4 points off 1st with a game in hand and in a similar position to last season. We added the bare minimum and faded away and fans are worried of a repeat. The Peterborough game and Bradford game I felt the players looked off the pace and leggy. We still have 20 odd games left with an ageing squad and too look back and see another failed January window will leave little excuses for a second time especially not taking the experience of doing it before. as a side note if not everyone wants to debate the transfer window I’d be happy to debate who we all feel of the signings we have made and the squad in general who is likely to be the best human, has the best beard or would win in a food fight session

Agree on the manager thing but Ipswich when I watched the home game were above and beyond better than us and I wasn’t surprised to see them up there in the championship

I’d be more intrigued if it was hard tissue injuries. Wouldn’t be out as long injured and would only require a phone with PH and some tissue

It wasn’t as bad last season it was a bit stronger. They built there team over 2 years and spent good money on that squad but spent it wisely. We currently have a mix between players who are ready for the retirement home soon or lower 20s

Backing and having a good recruitment are 2 things that need to be spot on. I can’t think of a single player we paid over a million pound for that jumps out at me and I think my god they were brilliant. Yet all the players who cost a million or less players jump out at me. Bryson Martin and even keogh to an extent will hughes and hendrick academy gems. The difference between Mel morris and the era before him our recruitment was 100 times better and the football was better as well

What would I like to see and bring realistic are 2 different ideas. What I’d like to see is Cameron Brannigan, cbt and langstaff from notts and realistically I’d like chislett from port vale cbt and Michael smith

This window is going to be like going to a steakhouse thinking your going to get a nice thick piece of ribeye steak to realise you can only afford a rump

Not just him I’d blame the recruitment department and owner. We have not wanted to pay upfront fees because of how limited the funds are. Free agents and we don’t know what wages were paid. I’d guess the summer before takes up a lot of wages when he wasn’t here. I think warnes actually done a good job with summer players apart from injuries which all teams have them. Wilson nyambe Nelson quality signings I’d even say ward and elder are good signings fornah has been good and bad in glimpses but to be fair hasn’t had a run of games. Washington until injury was hearing towards offering on the pitch even if it was off the bench. Tjj sold signing if he can get a run of games and stay fit. Vickers solid backup keeper. I’d say most of our wages are higher on the hourihanes and smith and sibeys birds who were on contracts pre admin and on the hurry window. We just need to sprinkle over what we have with 2 or 3 quality additions to aid us over the line and nyambe is back post January. with a 26000 thousand home crowd and money coming in plus embodying going back there is no reason not to compete with league 1 clubs in the position we are in. my fear is and everyone may not agree is we don’t add players and go with the current ageing squad and fall away which I can see happening. We don’t have the luxury of resting a nml but if we get a winger in the mould of cbt this relieves the pressure to rotate likewise with Collins if he gets crocked we have to rely on an injury prone tjj to carry the can. not asking for a million pounds d transfer splurge but we should be a pull and have the tour to aid the manager with the tools to make this a successful season and should take last January as a flash back point

So if we don’t get anyone over the line and go with what we have and warne publicly states we couldn’t do anything due to money yet the club put out that money would be made available for January and the squad gets burnt out by the end and misses out on promotion who does everyone blame let me guess warne will be to blame?

This sounds to me then like the wage bill is right at the top of our agreed plan or what we can pay for league 1. Albeit smith and Hourihane are likely to be 2 of them. Maybe Rosenior had to pay more wages to get the experience in as to not paying a salary

Even worse to the fact that if we were to go up on current squad without serious investment we could get trounced in the championship without serious investment. I’d say this squad is a lot weaker than Ipswich and I’d say Plymouth and Sheffield weds went up with better squads and Sheffield Wednesday have struggled albeit getting a bit of momentum under a very good and highly rated manager.

And judging by Leigh Curtis last piece we are starting to go back to the bare bones again through injuries Wilson ward and Forsyth all out

Not concerning but alarming that we could miss out on targets who are into the last 6 months of their contracts not going to cost a fortune and could get us out of the league while we are non a great position. What’s he going to do if we go up to the championship and we can’t compete with tinpot league 1 clubs?
