  1. With Bird not ready, Adams apparently injured, whatever happened to Fornah, Hourihane looks nailed on to start.
  2. The good thing about this is there seems no way we can play a back 3 against Blackpool, Pompey or Wycombe. The only problem is, who plays right back? Ward? Wilson? Smith? How close is Rooney to a return? Tother side, do we start Elder or Sibs?
  3. @Mucker1884 is going on the premise that the Jorrocks' local clientele were strangers to me back in 2010. He's wrong. He is correct in saying we have met and I'd be more than happy to repeat the experience as he's a good un.
  4. 30/1/2010. We hadn't won for something like 8 games. The Dogs hadn't lost in over 20 games. I was over with a PSV supporting teammate of mine over here. We were in the SW lower. 78th minute we got a free kick in the NE corner. I told my mate, Commons FK, Hulse header at the near post. Goal. I got that one right. Later that day, in Jorrocks, folk heard us talking Dutch. Found out I was expat and my mate Dutch. They thought it brilliant we'd come over for the game. Next 4 or 5 pints were donated by complete strangers. Great day out.
  5. The Kenco Cup game. I was over for that one too. Another great day out.
  6. As others have said, the original piece was in the "I wouldn't use that rag to wipe me 'arris" and has since been cut & paste by a myriad of clickbait non-news sites. I'll believe it when I read it on dcfc.co.uk and not before.
  7. Me, my 2 lads together in the East Stand, towards the front, just south of the penalty area at the north end. A family was sat behind us, husband, wife and 2 kids. We'd been chatting pre match in the concourse. At 3-0, 'er indoors was still not sure we'd win as those "Red Dogs" will come back at us. She became a little less nervous at 4-0. When the 5th went in she could finally relax, knowing we were out of sight.
  8. Hopefully automatic promotion in a lasting tribute to B4
  9. Take a gander at Dajaune's 96th minute equaliser for Gateshead at Boreham Wood. Pace and power. Our #9 next season? https://www.google.com/search?q=dajaune+brown+gateshead+goal&rlz=1C1CHBD_enNL973NL973&oq=dajaune+brown+gateshead+goal&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigAdIBCDY3OTJqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:4b46d78a,vid:TFxua0JH1E4,st:0
  10. As an old school type, I obviously go for hype. Is it a more valuable stat than shots, shots on target? I don't think it is. Here's some examples from last weekend Luton 1.75 Sheff U 1.56. The result was 1-3 Villa 2.45 Utd 1.9. The result was 1-2 Red Dogs 1.25 Toon 0.68. The result was 2-3 Fulham 1.75 B'mouth 2.61. The result was 3-1 Shots/shots on were Luton 20/5 Sheff U 7/3. Villa 23/10 Utd 17/5. Red Dogs 13/3 Toon 7/5. Fulham 7/6 B'mouth 25/4. Look at xG and, in all 4 cases the team with the better xG lost. Look at shots and the team with the most shots lost. Shots on target sees Luton and Villa losing despite more SOT and then Toon and Fulham having more SOT and winning. IMO xG is no better a stat than shots/SOT. In the end, it all comes down to creating chances, making the decision to shoot and then whether it's off target, on target but saved/blocked or on target and in. In the interest of balance, there were other games where the side with the best xG won.
