could also leave us with a poor striker and a poor centre back in place of what was a good centre back though 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' />

True... lets hope not though 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Whoever does come in could have a lot of pressure on their shoulders! One dodgy clearance or an own-goal and there will be plenty yapping about how "Shackell would never have done that" etc. Don't envy them that.

Providing of course Shackell goes... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> <prepares to tune into Radio Derby>

People seem to be forgetting that we will get money for Steve Davies too. If Shackell is sold for say 1.4m we will probably spend 700k on a replacement centre back and the remaining 700k plus maybe 400k received for Davies.

Okay, maybe not an 'as' good centre half, but a good one, Keogh etc. It seems to be, keep Shackell and have Ball and Theo up top, or sell Shackell and get a CB (Might not be as good 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> ) and a striker. Hmmm.... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I reckon this as good centre half would be at least £700k and that is being kind. That may give £800k for a striker at most. In this instance Clough has no margin for error. To my mind that would be flogging a good player, to sign two lesser players.

The squad has to be improved and built upon. Clough is capable of finding good cheap players, but also capable of finding duffers! It will be tough and a real test.

I think it's the wages that are the problem think our wage cap for either player will be roughly 4k which is obviously not going to get us any proven championship player, I expect league one and two to be the base of where we get Shackell and Davies replacement.

Very unhappy if this is true.

Just a quick question for the people who hold the board responsible:-

What do you think to the way NC has handled this situation? Telling everyone he is for sale, telling everyone they are getting close to the figure we want and also telling everyone that we have a replacement lined up?

I understand that Shackell is very unhappy with the way this has been handled and wanted his club to come out and say he is not for sale.

I would still lay the blame at the board. If they gave us some funds for the areas that need strengthening no way would Clough consider selling him.
