I have been offered a place at Lancaster University, just wondering if anyone has been and what they thought of it in general. I have been offered a place at Loughborough, Goldsmiths and am waiting on coventry but I'm definitely not going and waiting upon York.

Graduated from lough uni and still have ties now, brilliant research uni. Usually sneaks into top 10 overall. Crap for totty loadsa engineers, sportsmen and scientists. I turned down bristol and regretted it, have to take into account the social side as well as academic. Women, beer and things to do should be considered.

Dav got offered a place at Oxford over 10 years ago. He's no snob, he's a slob though 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

very impressive 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I know a good few who have applied but most have been turned down, me, I don't work hard enough and don't get good enough grades 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> if I worked like some of my friends maybe I would but I just can't be bothered 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

My bad - I got it wrong - he went to Oxford after he'd applied for his interview but was given the wrong stuff to prepare for and it didn't work out. He went to Nottingham in the end. Notts doesn't have the glamour and prestige of the 2 big ones but it's rep is top. He got his degree anyways which is the important thing.

Good luck with it YR - let us know how you get on! 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I'm sure you'll be brilliant!

Sixth form means f all, I couldn't be arsed, went to a "second tier uni", worked great for me- graduated top of my class and my last year project was published. I'd have just been "run of the mill" at Oxbridge yet I was distinguished elsewhere, found that worked for me when I went to get a job. Two ways to look at everything.

cheers, I know someone who was in an interview for cambridge, they asked him how he would sort out the financial situation and he sat there for 5 minutes in silence 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> felt sorry for him. I was thinking of applying to Notts but I would end up living at home and while I love my home if i don't go now I will never go. What does Dav do?

cheers and congratulations mate 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I don't really care where I go, I just want to go somewhere pleasant and not to far away from home and I'm just trying to get feedback from people who have been or are at these places.

Well done for getting published Silly, that's some achievment 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Worked out well. We had a list of 100 or so projects to choose from, I did f all preparation and chose the one with the shortest title that sounded the easiest (most people did tonnes of research about it) and I soon found out it was the hardest fecking one and had to work in a special nitrogen atmosphere room whilst my mates pissed about in the main labs. 15 years later I'm still doing it, funny how life works!

He's doing his PGCE in maths but at the min he's working in a secondary school. He's only at Uni about a day or 2 a month now. It's more "on the job". He's about a third of the way to his masters so still got a long way to go there. In the future he hopes to go into the research side of things I think.
