Day
Derby County defender Claude Davis is set to join Championship rivals Crystal Palace on a month’s loan. The Jamaican centre-back has been deemed surplus to requirements since Nigel Clough arrived at Pride Park. He has not played for Derby since the home defeat to Ipswich Town in November. A move to Selhurst Park would see Davis, 29, reunited with Palace boss Neil Warnock, who managed him at Sheffield United. Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of defender Christophe Berra from Hearts on a four-and-a-half year deal. Barnsley have brought in three players on loan. The Tykes have signed Andranik Teymourian from Fulham, winger Adam Hammill from Liverpool and striker Michael Mifsud from Coventry City. Sheffield Wednesday have signed Wolves defender Michael Gray on a permanent deal until the end of the season. The 34-year-old initially moved to Hillsborough on a one-month loan, which was to expire at the end of this week, and has played in the last four matches. Norwich City have signed Rangers striker Alan Gow on loan until the end of the season. The 26-year-old, who recently had a spell at Blackpool, was set for a move to Wolves at one stage but failed a medical. Coventry City have signed defender James McPake on a permanent deal from Scottish club Livingston. Nottingham Forest have had bids for two players rejected. They tabled a £600,000 offer for Hibernian captain Rob Jones and a £400,000 bid for Norwich winger Lee Croft but both were turned down. Cardiff City have reportedly joined the race to sign Hibs striker Steven Fletcher. And another Hibs player, Dean Shiels, is expected to join Doncaster Rovers on loan. Day
Warnock: Davis to join Palace until end of the season Derby County defender Claude Davis' proposed loan move to Crystal Palace will be until the end of the season - not for one month as previously reported. Speaking to the Advertiser this afternoon, Eagles boss Neil Warnock confirmed that the club was on the verge of completing a move for the 29-year-old. He said: "The deal isn't complete yet but we are taking Claude on loan until the end of the season - but Derby can recall him at any time." Day
Eagles priced out of Davis move Claude Davis's loan move from Derby County is unlikely to be made permanent, Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has revealed. The 30-year-old is understood to be surplus to requirements at the Rams after a frustrating season that has seen him dogged by hamstring and thigh injuries. Since joining Palace in January he has made five appearances but with two years left on his contract the Eagles are unlikely to be able to afford him in the summer. Warnock said: "I would imagine they will try and sell Claude this summer but we cannot afford his wages and neither are we in a position to buy anyone." The 60-year-old has though admitted his first target will be to bring in a goalscorer on a Bosman free transfer with the Eagles having struggled to find the net on a consistent basis this season. "We are going to try and get a striker," he said. "That's the priority as the final third has been our problem all season." He doesn't look it though....tbh he did say Sheff United would be his last job, then he came back. HE needs to get out of it, enjoy his life, that was his hope when he said he would finish at Sheff. As annoying as he may have been over the years to some fans. I like the bloke, did wonders at Notts County... A good manager....won't see his like again very quickly. P.S.... Neil Warnock is still alive and kicking
