Day
A piece of Derby County history is now available with the production of an exclusive series of limited-edition miniature Steve Bloomer busts. Artist Andrew Edwards - the man who created the unique pitchside sculpture of Bloomer at Pride Park Stadium - is putting together nine individual works of art which will be available on a first-come first-served basis. Each original scale model has been cast using the same bronze from the original Bloomer bust. They are hand-finished by the artist and beautifully patinated to a deep lustre. The exact angle of the supporting buttress built at Pride Park from an actual section of The Baseball Ground is also reproduced in a beautiful finely polished brick-red granite. It is authenticated with a bronze plaque inspired by the original brought from the old Baseball Ground entrance and now united with the new full-size bronze to make up the extraordinary monument. The nine are the only ones ever being made, further adding to their unique nature. Each one adds to the fantastic story of Steve Bloomer and the amazing ongoing relationship he has with his fans and his special place in the history of football and Derby County. The first one has already been secured by Don Amott, an non-executive director of the Rams. He said: "This is a great way for the club to allow fans to show their recognition to Steve Bloomer and as there are only a few available, I am sure that they will prove real collectors' items. "I am very proud to have the first one as it is something to keep and pass down through the family over many generations. "The main bust at the stadium is brilliant - there isn't anything else like it in the game - and these miniatures complement it perfectly." The first three are priced at £3,500 with production almost completed on two others. Anyone interested in purchasing one of these historic items should contact Derby County's vice-president of operations John Vicars on john.vicars@dcfc.co.uk.
