DERBY County’s Kris Commons has been ruled out of Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against Holland in Amsterdam on Saturday.

Commons, who has missed Derby’s last six matches, reported to the Scotland camp and had his calf injury assessed.

He will now return to Derby to continue his rehabilitation.

Commons remains a doubt for Scotland’s home clash with Iceland a week tomorrow.

Good news for Derby give him chance to get fit for the Burnley game.

Kris Commons has been ruled out of Scotland’s World Cup qualifier with Iceland on Wednesday, handing coach George Burley a further injury headache.

Burley has had to contend with a raft of injuries in the last week and Commons has been ruled out after failing to shake off the calf complaint that forced him to miss the defeat to Holland on Saturday.

Defeat in Amsterdam on Saturday leaves Scotland eight points behind Holland and level with Iceland in second place.

Scotland welcome Iceland to Hampden Park on Wednesday, but Burley will have to mastermind victory without Derby man Commons.

"He won't be fit,†said Burley’s assistant Terry Butcher. “He's not really taken part in any competitive football at Derby.

"He has been recovering from a calf injury - he tried to step it up on Friday but had a reaction over the weekend.

"The game has just come too quickly for him. It's a shame, because he had a particularly good debut against Iceland all those months ago."

Doesn't sound promising now does it, doubt we'l see him on Saturday.
