Harsh or should the English FA take notice and issue 25pt deductions for entering administration?

The points penalties should come before clubs get into such a state that they have to enter administration, then relegation by 2 divisions if they enter administration. Get the clubs running on a proper financial footing, make sure they can pay their way. No point leaving it until they're in administration. The FA and Football League need to make sure the clubs take their responsibilities to their creditors seriously, clubs are businesses and need to be run as such.

Its interesting that the SFA made a statement that CLubs have to honor their HMRC commitments (this was the reason they went into admin) and have started an early warning system (assumingly HMRC telling them when clubs are behind) so they can deal with clubs earlier. Could be that points deductions coming in North of the border before administration comes into effect.

Sheffield Wednesday must be shitting bricks right now, they are under another winding up order on 17th Novemebr and with no sign of a takeover.

A failure to pay a tax bill should result in a ten point deduction, if the club have still been able to pay players and local businesses.

Spending money you don't have is cheating. Have you ever played Monopoly? You can't buy Mayfair if you don't have £400 so why should football clubs be able to buy and pay luxury players when they don't actually have the money?

A better system would be a "points embargo", as well as a transfer embargo if clubs are in arrears with HMRC. So while clubs are in those dodgy situations, they should be barred from making transfers or from getting points, no matter what results they get. Then if the arrears with HMRC can be sorted without going into administration then the points they earned can be given back.

That wouldn't work because if it was at the business end of the season and the club in question were involved with a promotion or relegation battle, all the other teams around them would not know what points the club will end up with and it would affect their tactics for every game.
