Hendrie on loan to Brighton

DERBY County midfielder Lee Hendrie is set to join Brighton & Hove Albion on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 32-year-old has been recovering from a hamstring injury.

Hendrie (pictured) has made 10 first-team appearances, including five starts, since moving to Derby from Sheffield United at the end of the August transfer window but has not featured since the FA Cup third round tie at Millwall in early January.

It is understood that the former England international will now join League One Brighton for their nine remaining matches.

The Seagulls, who are managed by Gus Poyet, are currently 14th in the table and are at home to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

You lot are *****, we swapped him for Stewart don't you remember? pulled a hammy a while back and not made the bench since. Pretty pointless signing by Clough to be honest, we just swapped poos with Sheffield United.

Lee Hendrie has criticised Derby County's style upon leaving to play for Brighton on loan until the end of the season.

In an interview with the official Brighton website, Hendrie said: 'It's been frustrating for me because my last two clubs have not played my style of football. I've been trying to get on the ball down to play, but it hasn't happened for me.

'But I'm not one of these players that want to sit about, I want to play football as long as I can, so I'm really excited to be here.'

Given his total lack of impact on the Derby side (except an assist in the 2-2 draw against West Brom) it seems rather unfair that Hendrie should give a parting shot to Nigel Clough, especially given the fact that he hasn't been available for selection as a result of a pretty atrocious injury record during his time with The Rams.

True ,but in a way I agree with him.We only play passing football when Commons is playing.Without Commons its long ball the majority of the time.It is pointless having a "creative" player if the ball is continually flying over his head.

agreed that man, since ive come back and started watching again, its been route one everygame, except for brief 5minute periods, where we look threatening, until,we lose the ball and we hoof the ball 60yards again

well yeah as i would of thought he had the same mentality as his dad, who im led to thinks teams played passing football rather than launch it forward and hope for the best

oh and im sure he stated last season or pre season we were gonna play football with savage as the basis of the attacking movements

Peterborough at home was the only passing game I've really seen us play this season.

That match was probably the best I've seen Derby play for a long time. We kept the ball on the ground, we controlled everything in that game and got the deserved result. Commons only played the second half of it as well!

It's a real shame that the potential of that opening fixture failed to materialise. :frown:
