Day
Sven-Goran Eriksson’s flirtation with the fourth division of English football came to an end on Thursday night after Notts County were taken over by former Lincoln City chairman Ray Trew for the token figure of £1. The former England manager, who was less than seven months into his five-year contract, has resigned as director of football at Meadow Lane following Trew’s acknowledgment that he will not be prepared to bankroll Eriksson’s dream of taking the club to the Premier League. Speculation will naturally now focus on where Eriksson will resurface. Sources close to the 62 year-old, who was in London last night attending a function at Wembley, have told Telegraph Sport that he will return to management at national level in time for the World Cup. North Korea remain a possibility, and he is considering an offer from the Nigerian Football Federation to coach the national team, even though they did not qualify for the competition in South Africa. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/leaguetwo/nottscounty/7215147/Sven-Goran-Eriksson-leaves-Notts-County-after-Ray-Trew-buys-club-for-1.html
