Nigel Still in the Hunt

Nigel Clough is still in the hunt to add fresh faces to his Derby County squad.

The Rams boss says he would like to bring in 'two or three' more loan signings and he is also refusing to rule out permanent additions to his squad if the opportunities arise.

Clough has expressed a strong desire to keep DJ Campbell, Lee Johnson and Nicky Hunt with the Rams until the end of the season.

The trio's loan spells at Pride Park expire at the end of January and Clough is investigating the possibility of keeping them for longer.

Clough told Rams Player: "We're trying (brining new players in). We're still talking about getting some more loans in.

"I think we would like to keep the three loans we have got until the end of the season, so we will be talking to their clubs to see what we can do.

"On top of that, we would like to add two or three fresh loans to what we have.

"We can have five in a matchday squad under Football League rules but we may get six in if we can and get some of our lads out playing football (on loan).

"Russell Anderson's addition on a permanent basis is great for us because that doesn't use a loan up.

"If there are one or two others around like that we will do it, perhaps on 18-month contracts if we think that is ok.

"We are planning ahead though in case we do generate some funds to go out and add to the squad, especially if it is late in the transfer window.

"We need to make sure we have some irons in the fire, which we have."
