You can't make design changes like that to the address bar, only the little icon picture to the left and what it says in the tab.

The thing is I've got the most basic certificate, costs £50 per year, no checks are made only that my contact email matches that with the domain registration. It's issued within hours. Any fake/dodgy site could do this but don'y usually. What they couldn't do is get the green title, when you see it go green you will notice the URL changes to the company name. These certificates will cost maybe £250 ish but can take a couple of weeks to obtain as they check it's a registered business, send in documentation that you are the company, hold the domain etc. No dodgy site could get this so if you see green that's really good.

In short, a padlock is just encryption, anyone can get it.

Green is encryption plus the maximum level of trust that this is who they say they are and it's a legit business.

I'm getting loads of errors tonight through the server due to this SSL, I have disabled it throughout the forum whilst I investigate although It is still enabled for logins. If you visit https:// now you will get a pop up saying this site isn't secure, it's fine to continue using although you may as well just enter http://

I don't think it's a huge issue, being the weekend their support isn't available so it probably won't be back till Monday now.
