Youth duo on international duty

Two of Derby County's Youth Team players are today celebrating international call-ups.

Academy products James Severn and Jeffery Hendrick have both received international recognition for their early-season displays.

Goalkeeper Severn has been called up to the England U19 squad for their UEFA European U19 Championship matches against Finland (9 October) Slovenia (11 October) and Slovakia (14 October). All three matches take place in Slovenia.

Under 18 skipper Hendrick has been selected for the Republic of Ireland U18 squad for a tournament in Antalya, Turkey on October 13 and 15 as part of the build-up to their UEFA European U19 Championship campaign next year.

Said Youth Team Manager John Perkins: "The football club is delighted for James and Jeffery to gain international experience, which is a vital part of their development.

"We hope they both come back with added experience, which will help them progress at Derby County Football Club."

Both players will be missing from the U18s game at Leeds United this weekend.
