Miles Addison's early-season performances for Derby County have been rewarded with a call-up to the England U21 squad, [url=http://www.dcfc.co.uk/]dcfc.co.uk can exclusively reveal.

The towering centre-half, who has scored two goals already this season, has been a dominant figure at heart of the Rams defence.

Representatives of the Football Association have monitored his progress closely since the start of the campaign and his eye-catching displays have clearly impressed England U21 Head Coach Stuart Pearce.

Pearce has named Addison in his squad for the UEFA U21 European Championship Qualification games next week.

The U21s visit FYR Macedonia on Friday 4 September followed by another away game against Greece on Tuesday 8 September.

20-year-old Addison broke onto the first-team scene at Pride Park as a 17-year-old after progressing through the Rams Academy and made his debut in 2006 whilst still a First Year Scholar.

Said Addison: "I have to say this wasn't something I was expecting, so it's a big surprise really.

"Obviously it is a great honour to be picked for your country at any level and if I get selected to play in either of the games it will be a very proud moment for me and I will do my best."
