Dordogne_Ram
Whilst "thinning out" the bookcase, I came across this press cutting which I had retained, the content of which all but we "old and crusties" will probably be unaware of. Boxing Day, 1963 : First Division results Blackpool 1 v Chelsea 5 Burnley 6 v Manure 1 - Andy Lochhead 4 for Burnley , attdce : 35,764 Fulham 10 v Ipswich 1 - Graham Leggett 4, Howfield 3, and Bobby Robson for Fulham. Leicester 2 v Everton 0 Liverpool 6 v Stoke 1 - Roger Hunt 4 , Ian "Saint and Greavsie" John for Liverpool, and John Ritchie for Stoke - soon to be a near- neighbour when we moved to Newcastle, Staffs. Florist 3 v Sheffield United 3 Sheffield Wednesday 3 v Bolton 0 West Brom 4 v Tottenham 4 - Kaye & Bobby Howe for WBA, Greaves 2 for Spurs West Ham 2 v Blackburn 8 - " Budgie" Byrne 2 for WHU, Pickering and McEvoy 3 each for Blackburn Wolves 3 v Villa 3 - Hateley 1 for Villa So a record 66 goals in just 10 games, including 3 x 4 goals plus 3 hat tricks! Imagine hearing that lot on "Sports Report"! (But just to spoil the show, Rams lost 3 v 0 at Middlesboro.......some Boxing Day fixture!.)
