Bris Vegas
thebaronwrites.wordpress.com go to the first story about my gambling. Man I read that, a crazy story. I hope you're better now and it's a real eye-opener to what can happen. I got hooked on football betting last year, probably lost around a grand over 2012/2013 (doesn't sound much - probably 40 pounds per month, but in my terms it was literally 20% of what I earned in a month) I wouldn't say I was addicted, but as it's virtual money (ie. digits on a screen) it never felt such a bad thing. I mean, I would never go into a bookies and hand over a 10 pound note in my hand on an obscure Spanish 3rd division match where I literally couldn't name 2 players from either side. I never had the urge to wake up on just look for betting, but when I was on my laptop and watching a game through one of the bookies live streams (they have the best quality) at the weekend I just got tempted to throw a 'fun bet on'... Why? I don't know, because afterall I was p!ssing money away. Anyway, I stopped all that now. I put a limited of 10 a month on my account, but so far this year I've luckily not had the urge to put any bets on as I know how stupid it all is. You must have been in a horrible situation buddy, I salute you for standing up to it all and getting help.

You must have been in a horrible situation buddy, I salute you for standing up to it all and getting help. Thankyou for reading it. Just got to take it day by day. We're all the same, drug alcohol etc. Only way I can get my medicine is to go to GA. No cure but I've stopped nearly 7 years now. You're very sensible, problem was for me and all compulsive gamblers is when what we call the triangle, Time, Oppurtunity and Money all together at the same time. As long as I can keep that link broken I'm alright. I fear for people struggling with this illness nowadays as there is much more and easier to bet on. An the availability of credit still astounds me (payday loans etc). I did an article anonymously in the Derby Telegraph about 5 weeks ago and it made front page and had two page spread on 4 and 5. They led on payday lenders on front page which I was slightly disappointed with but shared the story I wrote in my blog. What made it great was that someone came to GA because they were inspired by my story. I'm glad I helped one person to realise they needed help. Its still on the website if you follow the telegraph from further fields. Just look for gambling in Telegraph search engine. Thankyou once again for reading. Really appreciate it. Like owt it's only silly if it is in control and not you, I like a bet now and again, two or three times a year and I can afford it, well done both of you though for sorting it out
ladyram
Completely agree with Froggy, well done for anyone battling to overcome this illness, because it is an illness. One that can't be dealt with by only taking a pill, it takes a huge amount of determination, support and courage to fight against - and isn't the Serenity Prayer so true? Good on you both :-)
